VI Illes Medes

Hola a todos, hemos finalizado una nueva edición del trofeo Illes Medes. Este año felicitamos al Jurado de la regata por la decisión tomada al acortar el recorrido, quew si bien nos imposibilitó disfrutar del precioso paisaje de la Costa Brava, si nos permitió el finalizarla y evitar tener que pasar muchas horas flotando sin viento.

El cuarto puesto obtenido es muy meritorio, al ser junto con el Kanavel los únicas dos embarcaciones de madera y además por haber  participado en la categoría "con tripulación" y al final fuimos únicamente tres tripulantes (y uno de ellos con gripe!!!).

Esperamos poder el próximo año.

Esta es la crónica de la regata que el CN Arenys ha publicado en su web.

"Aquest matí ha finalitzat la travessia de les Illes Medes. Les 31 embarcacions participants, dividides en 3 grups - tripulació, solitari i a dos Grup 1 i Grup 2- van sortir d'Arenys de Mar el dissabte 1 d'octubre a les 12:07 hores. Els participants que posaven rumb cap a les Illes Medes havien de completar el següent recorregut: Arenys- La Llosa de Palamós -Illes Medes - La Llosa de Palamós - Arenys.

El Comitè de Regates va donar sortida amb un vent d'11 nusos entre el 40 i el 70. El vent va anar baixant i el Comitè va prendre la decisió d'escurçar el recorregut a La Llosa de Palamós. La travessia quedava de la següent manera: Arenys- La Llosa de Palamós- Arenys. El que pretenia amb aquest nou recorregut és que els regatistes poguessin arribar a Arenys en el seu Temps Límit.

En l'edició d'enguany cal destacar la presencia d'una gran regatista d'alt nivell, la Pilar Pasanau, que té un gran palmarès, i molta experiència en el món de la nàutica. La regatista ha participat en regates com per exemple: la regata Transatlàntica Gran Prix de l'Atlàntic en Solitari, la Mini-Med a Dos, o la Regata Oceànica Huelva - La Gomera en Solitari. El seu objectiu és fer la volta al món fins a arribar a la regata en solitari per excel·lència: La Vendée Globe.

La primera embarcació en creuar la línia d'arribada era el Duende, de Jacinto Rodriguez, i ho feia a les 23.30 hores, el seguien 10 embarcacions que van fer l'últim tram del recorregut força juntes, però que a l'alçada de Canet els va desaparèixer el vent. L'última embarcació arribava a les 8 hores del diumenge dia 2. "

Mantenimiento del mástil

Hoy domingo hemos procedido a darle una capa de barniz al mástil. Oriol ha estado unas tres horas realizando una revisión al estado del mástil, herrajes, crucetas, ..., para que todo esté en perfecto estado de revista.

Tras un suave lijado, Oriol le ha dado una capa de barniz, dejando el mástil con un brillo espectacular.

VELA CLÁSICA MENORCA-VIII COPA DEL REY BARCOS ÉPOCA-TROFEO PANERAI

Hemos participado por primera vez en este importante campeonato, sin duda el mas prestigioso de la vela clásica en España.

El cuarto puesto conseguido es un éxito grandísimo. En breve os pasaremos una descripción de como han transcurrido estos tres días de campeonato. Pero de momento os adelantamos algunas fotos.

Puig Vela Classica Marconi Class Rating Issue

Introduction:
Puig Vela Clàssica races took place in Barcelona from July 14th to July 16th as part of the CIM circuit. There were 13 vintage yachts inscribed in the Marconi class (annex 1).
Prior to the race, Marconi class yacht “Peter” has undergone major structural modifications, including but not limited to, entering over 10cm both the mainmast and mizzen-mast shrouds, advancing the engine towards the center of the yacht and including fiberglass or equivalent at the level of the crosspieces of the mainmast. These modifications had not been included in the initial rating presented for the Puig Race (APM CIM 199.9 - Authenticity Co valued 0,93 as per previous years ratings).

Race Situation:
Winning yacht, (“Peter”), achieved the first position having inscribed an incorrect 2011 CIM rating (annex 2) that did not reflect the accurate measures of the yacht. Local CIM measurer Mr. Vicenç Domenech (VD), although having verified the previous fact prior to the last day race, did not act upon it, breaking CIM rules.

Timely Description:
- Day 14th and 15th of the race: No issues occurred in this respect.
- Day 16th:
09:45h CIM Measurer , Mr. VD is informed of the inaccurate rating of “Peter” as per previous explanation.
10:00 Mr. VD visits “Peter” and inspects both outside and inside the yacht to verify these modifications. Agreed these are major modifications, Mr. VD speaks by telephone with the CIM measurer of the Associazione Italiana Vele D´Epoca who issued “Peter” rating as of July 7th. Such measurer had issued this initial rating based on the comments of the yacht but without presence verification nor asking an alternative authorized measurer to check them. Mr. VD meets yacht “Peter” at the clubhouse to discuss.
Mr. VD and the Italian measurer agree that a new rating (annex 3 – APM CIM 197.4 basically Authenticity Co modified from 0,93 to 0,94) will be issued for “Peter”, in order for the yacht to be able to continue competing. As such, they agreed that in front of the race committee, the explanation will be that the Italian measurer made a “typing mistake” in order for this rating be accepted by the race committee. This new rating is dated valid from 16th July to 17th July.
11:30 Yacht leave to sea and racing takes place until mid afternoon.
17h While the race committee is at sea and without informing Head of Race Committee nor the Head of Measurement, Mr. VD decides unilaterally to instruct the administrative staff to amend the rating of “Peter” in the information technology system and to issue all classifications backdated from July 14th onwards with the new rating.
As such, the provisional classification of the third race, issued calculating the compensation times of the new rating, is posted after the race on the official race board (as provisional results) and is read by several astonished owners / skippers of Marconi yachts.
It is agreed that a formal request is presented to the race committee to clarify the situation (annex 4). Upon arrival to shore, Race Committee Head immediately redressed the situation, changing the provisional results and confirmed no modifications to rating of “Peter” had been accepted.
Prior to the prize giving, extensive conversation were held with Mr. VD to obtain an explanation why CIM measurer was not taking action upon a yacht that, as CIM measurers had verified, presented an inaccurate rating. No comprehensive explanation was given.

Final classification signed and stamped by the Race Committee applied initial inaccurate rating (APM 199.9 - Co 0.93) since no formal communication nor action was made from the CIM measurer to the Race Committee in this respect.

Questions to CIM:

1.- Skippers / owners of the Marconi and Classic yachts class jointly request technical committee of CIM conduct an independent audit of the situation occurred during the Puig Vela Classica race as per previous facts, in order to issue a formal CIM report.
2.- Does CIM consider valid the classification of the Puig Vela Classica Marconi Class?
3.- What decisions / actions is CIM going to implement on the involved parties (yacht and measurer involved), knowing they were aware other yachts were competing in unfair conditions and did nothing about it?
4.- How is CIM going to prevent this situation occurring in the next races?

Nuevas fechas Trofeo Museo Marítimo

Hola a todos, el organizador del Trofeo Museo Marítimo, el Real Club Marítimo de Barcelona, ha decidido aplazar la realización del trofeo previsto para este próximo fin de semana al fin de semana del 2 y 3 de Julio.

Segunda victoria consecutiva en el Trofeo Conde de Godó

OWNER, marca de primera calidad de ropa náutica y casual, se estrena en las regatas de clásicos y época junto con Almarán New York con un gran triunfo en el prestigioso Trofeo Conde de Godó.

En el Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, del 20 al 22 de Mayo ha tenido lugar el XXXVIII Trofeo Conde de Godó con los barcos clásicos y de época más representativos de la flota, entre los que destacan Malabar X, Islander, Kanavel, Alba, Diana y Almarán New York. Las condiciones de viento de los 3 días de regatas han sido variables con poco viento y roladas constantes lo que ha hecho la navegación complicada.

Las embarcaciones Alba y Diana han tenido un duelo muy espectacular con cruces babor / estribor permanentes, que se han resuelto favorablemente gracias a la pericia de los patrones y tripulaciones de cada uno de los veleros. Asimismo, Malabar X e Islander han impresionado por la espectacularidad de tener todas su múltiples velas cangrejas y marconi izadas al mismo tiempo para optimizar la velocidad de sus veleros.

Tras los 3 días de regata, Almarán New York y OWNER han conseguido imponerse en el XXXVIII Trofeo Conde de Godó por delante de Alba (segundo) e Islander (tercero).

Es el segundo año que nuestro velero consigue el Trofeo!!!
